Lowdown is an ambient audio companion that narrates the history and landmarks of the places you travel through. This policy explains what the app does and does not do with your information. The short version: Lowdown runs on your device, keeps your location on your device, has no accounts, shows no ads, and shares nothing with anyone.
Lowdown uses your device's GPS location and heading to choose which stories to play as you move. This processing happens entirely on your device. Your location is never transmitted off your device, never stored on a server, and never shared with us or any third party. We do not build a profile of where you go.
With your permission, Lowdown can continue to use location in the background so narration keeps playing with your screen off while you drive. You can revoke location access at any time in the iOS Settings app; the app simply stops selecting new stories when you do.
None. Lowdown has no user accounts and no sign-in. We do not collect your name, email, contacts, photos, or any personal information. We do not use analytics, advertising, or third-party tracking SDKs.
The app saves small preferences and a record of which stories you have already heard on your device (using the system's standard local storage) so it does not repeat content. This data stays on your device and is removed if you delete the app.
Lowdown does not track you across apps or websites and does not use the device advertising identifier.
Lowdown does not knowingly collect any information from anyone, including children. Some narration covers difficult historical subjects such as war, slavery, and violence; please review the App Store age rating to decide if it is appropriate for younger listeners.
If a future version of Lowdown adds features that handle data differently (for example, optional cloud sync), we will update this policy and the App Store privacy details before that version ships.
