Grove Hill World War One Memorial

Alabama

In the middle of the courthouse square in Grove Hill stands a monument to the men of Clarke County who died in World War One. It is a simple, dignified structure, a base and four columns holding up a horizontal slab crowned with a stone eagle, with the names of the county's war dead inscribed beneath.

The memorial was dedicated on Armistice Day, the eleventh of November, nineteen twenty-four, six years after the guns fell silent in Europe. Today it is a contributing landmark in the Grove Hill Courthouse Square Historic District, listed on the National Register of Historic Places.
