Cameron Trading Post
Arizona
Cameron Trading Post has been the crossroads of this corner of the Navajo Nation for more than a century. Brothers Hubert and C.D.
Richardson established the Little Colorado Trading Post here in nineteen sixteen, five years after the suspension bridge over the Little Colorado River made the site accessible. Navajo and Hopi locals came to barter wool, blankets, and livestock for dry goods, and the Richardson brothers learned local languages and customs to serve as trusted intermediaries in dealings with the American legal system. As roads improved, early automobile tourists began stopping here on their way to the Grand Canyon.
Still operating today, Cameron remains very much what it has always been: a genuine waypoint at the edge of the Colorado Plateau.
