Frisco Caboose
Near Fayetteville, Arkansas
This bright caboose celebrates the railroad that created Rogers. The town was incorporated in June of eighteen eighty-one, and almost immediately a depot went up along the new tracks. Just two years later a larger passenger depot was built where Frisco Park sits today, anchoring the young downtown.
The caboose itself was built in nineteen forty-six and rolled the rails for the Frisco line, the Saint Louis to San Francisco Railway. After Frisco merged into the Burlington Northern in nineteen eighty, the railroad donated the car to the city for Rogers's centennial celebration in nineteen eighty-one.
It now sits in Centennial Park, cared for by the Rogers Historical Museum, a small monument to the rails that built the town.
