Cedar Cabin, YMCA of the Rockies
Near Estes Park, Colorado
This cedar-log cabin dates to around nineteen oh five, when it was built as a tourist accommodation, one of the early ventures capitalizing on the Rockies as a destination for leisure travelers. Later the YMCA of the Rockies acquired it as part of its original land purchase in this valley. Today it stands as one of the few surviving structures from the original Wind River Ranch property that became the YMCA campus.
More than a century of mountain summers have passed through these walls. What began as a speculative tourist cabin is now a piece of living history at a large YMCA camp and conference center, hosting many visitors each year in the shadow of Rocky Mountain National Park.
