Pulse Memorial, Orlando
Near Orlando, Florida
On June twelve, two thousand sixteen, a gunman opened fire inside Pulse Nightclub on South Orange Avenue, killing forty-nine people and wounding fifty-three others. It was the deadliest attack on LGBTQ Americans in United States history at the time. Among the dead were seven students from Valencia College.
The names of the forty-nine are inscribed here, each one a person with a life, a family, a story that did not end that night. The onePULSE Foundation has worked since then to build a permanent national memorial and museum on this ground. What stands here now is a place of grief and of defiance, a reminder that love and community outlast violence.
