Marsing, Idaho: The Town the Railroad Called Erb
Idaho
Marsing, in Owyhee County, is said to be named for an early settler in the area. One local story holds that the railroad depot here once carried a different name, Erb, before it was changed to match the town. It sits on the south bank of the Snake River southwest of Boise, in an agricultural valley where hay, onions, and livestock operations fill the benchlands between the river and the Owyhee uplands.
