Troy, Illinois
Illinois
Troy, Illinois was platted in eighteen nineteen in Madison County, on what was then raw frontier. Troy received its town charter in eighteen fifty-seven and became a city in eighteen ninety-two. Today it sits just across the river from St. Louis, at the junction of Interstate Fifty-Five and Interstate Seventy, making it one of the fastest-growing communities in the metro area, a small agricultural town that found itself in the path of eastward suburban sprawl.
