Albertville, Minnesota

Minnesota

Albertville has gone by three names. German settlers first called it Hamburg. When the Minneapolis and Northwestern Railroad laid tracks through in the eighteen eighties, the stop became Saint Michael Station.

Then in nineteen oh nine, a local priest named Father Duhr proposed renaming the village for Albert Zachman, a parishioner who had donated land for the Catholic church near the town square. The name Albertville became official in nineteen nineteen. Today the town is better known for what opened on April seventeenth, two thousand: the Albertville Premium Outlets, a hundred-store shopping complex that draws shoppers from across the Twin Cities metro.
