Reynolds, North Dakota, The Surgeon Who Platted a Town

Near Grand Forks, North Dakota

Reynolds, straddling the Grand Forks and Traill county line in North Dakota, owes its name to Dr. Henry Reynolds, a pioneer settler. The town was founded in eighteen eighty-one, and railroad tracks still run through it.

It is a small place today, just a few hundred residents on the flat prairie east of Grand Forks, but the neat grid of its early streets still shapes how the community sits on the landscape.
