Silverton, Ohio
Ohio
The community now called Silverton got its start in eighteen oh nine, when a settler named David Mosner opened a general store at the crossroads of Plainfield Pike and Montgomery Road. For more than fifty years the little cluster of homes and shops was simply called Mosner, or sometimes Enterprise, depending on who you asked.
When a post office finally arrived in eighteen sixty-one, the name Mosner was made official. Then in nineteen oh four the community became a village and chose an entirely new identity. The name Silverton stuck, and today this small Hamilton County pocket sits nestled between the Cincinnati neighborhoods pressing in around it, still a distinct village, still carrying the memory of that original crossroads store that started it all.
