First Horizon Park, Nashville Sounds
Tennessee
First Horizon Park is the home of the Nashville Sounds, the Triple-A affiliate of the Milwaukee Brewers. The park opened in two thousand fifteen in the Sulphur Dell neighborhood, a site with deep Nashville baseball history. The original Sulphur Dell field, which operated from the eighteen eighties through nineteen sixty-three, was famously called the worst ballpark in professional baseball because of a steep hillside in right field where outfielders literally ran uphill to chase fly balls.
The new park brought professional baseball back to that storied ground after a half-century away. The Sounds have served as a development ground for dozens of major-league players, and the park anchors Nashville's revitalized downtown north side.
