Tennessee Technological University

Tennessee

Tennessee Technological University, known as Tennessee Tech, sits in Cookeville on the Cumberland Plateau between Nashville and Knoxville. It was chartered in nineteen fifteen as a polytechnic institute to serve the region's growing need for engineers and industrial workers. Tech grew steadily through the twentieth century and today is known for its engineering programs. Cookeville itself, originally a small market town named for pioneer settler Richard Cooke, grew alongside the university into a small city of roughly thirty-five thousand, connected to the rest of the state by Interstate Forty.
