Summer Concerts on the Chateau Lawn
Near Woodinville, Washington
On warm summer evenings, this manicured estate lawn becomes one of the most beloved outdoor stages in the Northwest. The Chateau Sainte Michelle Summer Concert Series began in nineteen eighty four as a modest idea, a few small music shows staged in the winery parking lot as a little something extra for wine lovers. People loved it.
The crowds grew year after year until the winery built a dedicated amphitheater on the grounds, tucked among the trees and gardens. Today the amphitheater seats roughly four thousand five hundred guests per show. Concertgoers spread blankets on the general admission lawn, uncork a bottle from the winery, and listen to touring artists as the light fades over the estate.
Over the decades the series has drawn a remarkable range of performers, from jazz and folk legends to rock and pop headliners, and it has become a summer ritual for generations of Seattle area families. By the mid two thousand twenties the series had passed its fortieth season of continuous music, one of the longest running outdoor concert traditions in the region. It is a reminder that Woodinville sells an experience as much as a beverage, an evening under the trees with a glass in hand.
