Lyndon Station, Wisconsin
Near Baraboo, Wisconsin
Among the first settlers here were Irish families, some said to have come from County Kildare, and the settlement was called Kildare. More Irish families followed, and when the railroad came through, the surrounding countryside is said to have turned out by the tracks to see it. Within a few years, the Irish surnames of two counties, Kildare and Limerick, were tangled enough that the community changed its name to Lyndon Station, reportedly honoring a man involved in completing the railroad, though records leave the exact connection fuzzy. The new name stuck, and the village grew as a stop on the rail line between Wisconsin Dells and Mauston.
