The Birthplace of Curly Lambeau
Near Green Bay, Wisconsin
Here stands an old house in the Green Bay area. For decades, no one knew exactly where Earl Curly Lambeau had been born, and for that, this modest home matters far beyond its woodwork.
Lambeau was born in eighteen ninety-eight, and in nineteen nineteen he co-founded a football team backed by his employer, the Indian Packing Company. He called them the Packers, coached them for three decades, and turned the only big-league pro team in a small American city into a dynasty that still bears his name on its stadium. His true birthplace was eventually traced through old records.
