Moose: Heart of Grand Teton

Wyoming

Moose is the headquarters of Grand Teton National Park, a small cluster of administrative buildings, a visitor center, and a few historic structures at the south end of the park near the Snake River's main channel. The Craig Thomas Discovery and Visitor Center here, opened in two thousand seven and named for the Wyoming senator who championed park funding, has exhibits on the natural history of Jackson Hole. Moose takes its name from the animal, which is common in the willows along the Snake River here. The adjacent Murie Ranch, where conservationists Olaus and Mardy Murie lived and worked, was a center of the American wilderness movement for decades.
