The WYO Theater

Near Sheridan, Wyoming

The WYO Theater on North Main Street opened in nineteen twenty-three as the Lotus Theater, a vaudeville and silent film house built in the Spanish Colonial Revival style with a terracotta facade and a grand interior. It was later renamed the WYO. The theater cycled through decades of film runs, concerts, and near-closure before the community stepped in.

A community restoration effort brought the original plasterwork, stage, and balcony back to working condition. Today the WYO operates as a performing arts center, a long-running theater in Wyoming. It is listed on the National Register of Historic Places.
