Hindsman Bell Tower

This bell tower in the heart of the Arkansas Tech University campus honors a coaching legend. Sam Hindsman arrived at Arkansas Tech in nineteen forty-seven, and over the next nineteen winters he built a basketball dynasty, winning a school-record three hundred fifty-five games.

His Wonder Boys claimed eleven conference championships and reached the national semifinals twice. From nineteen forty-nine to nineteen fifty-five they won seven straight titles, posting a conference record of one hundred twelve wins against just six losses. Hindsman also coached the football team to two championships and even won conference bowling titles.

His former players, family, and friends raised the money to build this tower in his memory, completing it in twenty eleven. It is now a favorite gathering spot for students crossing campus.
