Connecticut Trolley Museum

Near Springfield, Connecticut

In East Windsor, Connecticut, a short stretch of track carries passengers in vintage electric streetcars past fields and woods, powered overhead by wires that hum just as they did a century ago. The Connecticut Trolley Museum was founded in nineteen forty, making it one of the oldest electric railway preservation societies in the country. Volunteers rescued cars from across New England as cities ripped out their streetcar systems after World War Two, and the collection now includes a variety of trolleys and railroad cars.

You can ride a working vintage car. The museum keeps alive a transit network that once connected many Connecticut towns.
