Missouri Sports Hall of Fame
Near Springfield, Missouri
Springfield is not what most people think of as a sports city, but the Missouri Sports Hall of Fame here makes a strong case for Missouri's athletic legacy. Founded in nineteen ninety-four by Springfield businessman John Q. Hammons, the hall occupies a two-story, thirty-two-thousand-square-foot building along Highway Sixty just east of Highway Sixty-Five, close enough to Branson that many visitors add it to a Ozarks trip.
The building holds more than four thousand items of memorabilia covering Missouri amateur and professional sports across all eras. Missouri's sports geography runs wide: the Kansas City Chiefs and Royals, the St. Louis Cardinals and Blues, a deep tradition of college athletics, and individual legends from every era. Interactive exhibits let visitors test themselves against pitching machines and football passes, a reminder that Missouri's relationship with sports is personal, not just historical.
