Troutman: A Railroad Depot Town
North Carolina
Troutman sits in the Iredell County Piedmont, and its story begins with a railroad. The town is said to be named for Annie Troutman.
The real engine of growth was the railroad and its depot. The community was settled in eighteen fifty-nine and incorporated as a town in nineteen oh five. Today Troutman is still a small Iredell community, sitting just off Interstate Seventy-Seven between Statesville and Mooresville.
