Somerset, Pennsylvania
Pennsylvania
Somerset has been the county seat of Somerset County since seventeen ninety-five, when the state carved the county out of Bedford County and named it for the English county of the same name. The borough was settled that year and incorporated on March fifth, eighteen oh four. Today Somerset is best known as the gateway community to the Flight Ninety-Three National Memorial, a short drive from Shanksville, where a hijacked airliner came down on September eleventh, two thousand one.
