The Warriors Mark Path
Pennsylvania
Long before European settlers built roads through central Pennsylvania, Indigenous people had already mapped the most practical routes across this terrain. Near here, two of those ancient corridors crossed: the Warriors Mark Path and the Bald Eagle Path crossed and fed into the Great Shamokin Path, a major artery connecting the Susquehanna Valley to the Ohio country. These were not rough trails but carefully maintained, multi-generation routes used for trade, diplomacy, and warfare. When colonists arrived, they often followed the same corridors, and many modern roads in Pennsylvania trace lines first worn smooth by Indigenous travelers centuries before any European ever set foot here.
