Hatton: Where Brigham Young Said Move Along
Utah
The small settlement along Corn Creek in Millard County began in eighteen fifty-nine when Peter Robison, Peter Boyce, and other settlers from nearby Fillmore put down roots where the old Mormon Road crossed the water. They called it Corn Creek, then Petersburg, after their postmaster. The name later changed again to Hatton.
The settlement seemed to be taking hold until, between eighteen sixty-seven and eighteen sixty-nine, most families moved upstream to found Kanosh. A tiny handful stayed on at Hatton, making it one of Utah's quietest near-ghost towns, not abandoned so much as gently redirected.
