Johnson Creek, Wisconsin
Wisconsin
Timothy Johnson and Charles Goodhue were the first two settlers here, and the stream was named after Johnson. The village grew up where the railroad crossed it. The place was first called Belleville, but it was confused with another Belleville in Wisconsin, so in eighteen seventy-two the name was changed to Johnson Creek.
The railroad sealed the village's role as a local trade stop. Timothy Johnson also co-founded the city of Watertown, giving him an outsized hand in shaping southeastern Wisconsin, though Johnson Creek remains the smaller and quieter of his two contributions.
