George Mackenzie Wallace

Colorado

This spot honors the man who dreamed up everything around you. George Mackenzie Wallace was the developer behind the Denver Tech Center. He had an eye for land that nobody else wanted.

In nineteen sixty-two he went looking for open space away from the crowded core of Denver and found it on the bare prairie off Interstate Twenty-Five. What looked like empty grassland to everyone else looked to Wallace like a city of the future. He assembled the acreage parcel by parcel and drew companies to his suburban campus, helping turn the obscure hamlet of Greenwood Village into one of the busiest business districts in the Rocky Mountain West.
