Eastcliff: The University President's House on the Bluff

Near Minneapolis St Paul, Minnesota

Perched on the Mississippi bluffs in Saint Paul, Eastcliff is a twenty-room Colonial Revival estate built in nineteen twenty-two for lumber baron Edward Brooks. Its walls have hosted Katharine Hepburn, Helen Keller, and Clark Gable. The Brooks family donated it to the University of Minnesota in nineteen fifty-eight, and since nineteen sixty it has served as the official residence of every university president.

Many university presidents have lived here. The house is reportedly one of the most-visited public residences in Minnesota, open for tours and public events. It was added to the National Register of Historic Places in two thousand.
